(Terra Alta)—Headline Books is proud to announce the newest release, Prospect Hill by Kim Seigh, from its fiction division, Publisher Page.

“Kim has written a wonderful novel, inspired by her own family history, that depicts family living in Johnstown, PA during the early 20th Century,” said Cathy Teets, president of Headline Books. “I was anxious to publish this book because it covers so much of our history that is not being presented to our children in schools. Kim is able to show students pictures and speak knowledgeably about the culture and social structures of the times. I think this is an important book that both children and adults will enjoy.”

From the aftermath of the Johnstown, PA Flood of 1889 to Lindbergh’s historic flight, Prospect Hill follows the intertwined lives of the Edelweiss family as young Crystal struggles to keep her family together and becomes an independent woman of the 1920’s.

This book offers a slice of life that is quickly slipping away from our children. The characters are very real and Prospect Hill brings history to life in a memorable, entertaining way by introducing you to a family you will never forget. This is a wonderful adjunct to middle school history and social studies classes. Mrs. Seigh has a wealth of photographs from the late 1800's and early 1900's and is definitely well versed and knowledgeable on her subject. Students will gain an insight to family living and how our ancestors lived, worked, and played in an era so different from our own.

Kimberly Seigh has worked as a social worker, primarily with the developmentally disabled. Serving as a Peace Corps volunteer, she worked in Uganda on an orphans’ project. Most recently, she has been employed as a teacher of a variety of grades and subjects, with language arts being her favorite.

Kimberly lives in Pennsylvania and is currently working on her next novel. She is a popular new addition to the Headline Books School Show Program and will be visiting school students bringing living history in the classroom.
